ToDowl: a Todoist alternative with a calendar

Todoist is a fast, dedicated to-do app - keyboard-first entry, natural-language due dates and labels are what it does best. It stays a task list, though: no built-in calendar, no notes, no habit tracker. Google Tasks is lighter still, a to-do list inside Gmail. ToDowl keeps the same quick task entry and adds a calendar, project notes and a habit tracker in the same account.

Feature ToDowl Todoist Google Tasks
Task entry Kanban board and list per project, priorities and due dates. Fast, keyboard-first entry with natural-language due dates - its core strength. A basic list with due dates and subtasks; no priorities or labels.
Calendar Weekly and monthly calendar built in, color-coded by project. No calendar view in the app; syncs out to an external calendar instead. No calendar of its own; appears as a sidebar inside Google Calendar.
Notes Project-based notes editor next to your tasks. No built-in notes; task descriptions are the closest equivalent. No notes feature.
Habit tracker Monthly grid with streaks. No dedicated habit tracker. No habit tracker.

Why switch

  • Same fast task entry

Kanban board and list view per project keep the quick-add habit Todoist users already have, with priorities and due dates.

  • A calendar that is actually there

Tasks with due dates show up on a built-in weekly and monthly calendar, no external sync required.

  • Notes without a second app

A project-based notes editor sits next to your tasks instead of living in a separate notes app.

  • Habits get tracked too

A monthly habit grid with streaks covers the one thing neither Todoist nor Google Tasks offers.
